New Designers Part 1 2013


The annual exhibition of UK design graduates New Designers opened last week, showcasing the lastest crop talent to come out of UK universities and art colleges.┬áHeres a pick of some of the talent I spotted at the show. Graduating is a tough time for any student but I’m pretty confident great things lie ahead for many of the designers featured here. In my Habitat post it was great to see one of the New Designers exhibitors of 2008 having such a pivotal role in the Habitat design team.

Habitat have a record of producing some wonderful product designers. Tom Dixon and Bethan Gray cut their teeth at Habitat; not to mention the founding father (design demi-god?) Sir Terrence Conran. Clerkenwell Design Week 2013

Clerkenwell Design Week has become a firm favourite of mine in the design show calendar. A combination of fascinating venues and and interesting mix of new and established brands have made it must see show. If you get any chance to get inside the wonderful Farmiloe Building and House of Detention it has to be taken, its a bonus when they fill it with designers!
