Arguably the best of the season’s trade shows, Maison et Objet in Paris covers everything you need for the home. From cutting edge design and technology to pieces using traditional techniques there’s always something impressive to be found amongst the vast halls. I’ve picked out a few of my favourites.
The first of the season and one of the smaller trade shows; what Home lacks in size it makes up in content. Its a refreshing change from the the vast halls filled with gifty nick naks to find a show that in one hall packs some great designers and brands. From the old and established to the new and up and coming it has a great mix of products for the home. Here’s my pick from the show.
Swoon Editions asked me to have a little play with one of their chairs, the very cute Milly. The challenge was to style and shoot the chair in my own way, and I think it demonstrates how Milly is a blank canvas; she can be dressed up or down and sits well with some old classics as well as new designs. The shape is reminiscent of midcentury modern furniture, but she has upholstery details from further back with the Oatmeal linen studded with nailheads on the back of the chair. Continue reading
