Clerkenwell Design Week 2014

Johnson_Tiles_Colourwall_Ptolemy_MannLast week was one of my favourite design shows; Clerkenwell Design Week, a show that might be smaller than your average design fair (and not exactly a week) but what it lacks in size it makes up the quality of events and exhibitors. The entrance to the Design Factory was a stunning display by Ptolemy Mann for Johnson Tiles. Using the full colour palette available in the Prismatics range it was a playful and inventive way to display an ordinary tile. The range is available for you to play with at Material Lab along with Johnson’s full range of tiles and a few interesting partners.  Continue reading

Ebay Collections

Ebay had almost become a victim of their own success; millions of products uploaded everyday how the heck do you sift through to find the very best bits? With the launch of Ebay Collections suddenly it all becomes that bit easier. They’ve invited a team of tastemakers and curators to get the ball rolling and create some collections that people can be inspired by and find the kinds of things you never knew Ebay would sell. There are a huge number of stores, both big brands and independent sellers who have their own ebay stores covering every interest, hobby or practical need. Swoon Editions – Milly

Swoon Editions asked me to have a little play with one of their chairs, the very cute Milly. The challenge was to style and shoot the chair in my own way, and I think it demonstrates how Milly is a blank canvas; she can be dressed up or down and sits well with some old classics as well as new designs. The shape is reminiscent of midcentury modern furniture, but she has upholstery details from further back with the Oatmeal linen studded with nailheads on the back of the chair. Continue reading
